FAQ

Can I WASH THE PARTS FROM A HUROM SLOW JUICER IN THE DISHWASHER?

It is not advisable to wash the components of the appliance in the dishwasher, as there are rubber seals that can become deformed by heat. It is best to clean them under running water immediately after squeezing, using the brush provided. By cleaning in this way, we do not need to use detergents. In addition, by washing the slow jucier immediately after squeezing, the residue will not have time to dry and can be easily removed; this is the easiest and quickest method. From time to time, we recommend soaking the parts (apart from the main body which houses the motor!) in a mild dishwashing liquid. This method helps to get rid of hard-to-remove residues that may appear with irregular washing. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning the appliance.

Where can I get spare parts. Where can I get spare parts such as filters, silicone brushes or plastic containers?

Spare parts are available from our stock. If you would like to order a part please email us at bok@hurom.pl with a detailed description or photo and we will try to reply as soon as possible.

Can I squeeze the juice out of the flesh a second time to get more juice?

Hurom effectively squeezes juice the first time, so there's no need to do it again.

Can you grind grains or legumes in the HUROM slow jucier?

The Hurom jucier will not grind hard grains and legumes. Use a special grinding mill for this purpose. CAUTION: Damage to the machine may occur when attempting to grind grains and legumes. The warranty does not cover the repair of damage caused by improper use of the appliance.

WHERE SHOULD YOU Peel CITRUS FRUITS BEFORE Squeezing Juice?

Definitely yes! When trying to juice the whole fruit of an orange, the peels clog up the Hurom slow juicer which can damage the strainer. Nevertheless, lemon peel is an exception to this rule. Whole lemon juice appears in recipes for medicinal drinks. A very good flavour combination is half a lemon with two apples. Remember to cut the half lemon into smaller pieces - 8 pieces are recommended - to avoid experiencing the above problems.

IS IT WORTH CHILLING FRUIT AND VEGETABLES BEFORE Squeezing THEIR JUICE?

Best juice is made from chilled ingredients. Cold products give us more juice because their fibres are harder when chilled. We therefore recommend that you chill all ingredients before using them in the Hurom slow jucier.

Should you remove the nuclei and seeds from apples before squeezing their juice?

If you don't want to feel the bitterness in your juice, it's best to remove the seeds from the apples before pressing. You can use an apple stoner for this purpose. However, squeezing the juice from the apples along with their seeds does not affect the performance of the slow jucier.

Can you prepare and crush frozen sorbets in the HUROM slow jucier?

Ice and frozen products cannot be crushed in the Hurom slow jucier. Damage caused by such actions is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. There are, however, juicers that have special ice cream attachments through which frozen fruit is passed to produce a smooth sorbet. However, make sure your model of slow jucier has such attachments. See how we prepare sorbets with Hurom slow juicers - YouTube

Can you make pasta in the HUROM slow jucier?

There is one slow jucier on the market right now that makes homemade pasta - the HUROM DU CHEF - https://youtu.be/tPmBPVgG3MY

Can you make peanut butter in the HUROM slow jucier?

Yes, it is possible. Before putting the nuts in the slow jucier, soften them by soaking them in water. The drained nuts are then placed in the slow juicer. It is normal for some of the peanut butter to come out through the pulp outlet. This pulp can be added to our butter. We recommend preparing up to five hundred grams of peanut butter at a time.

Can olive oil be cold-pressed in the HUROM slow jucier?

Squeezing oil is a very different process from juicing - it requires a special machine. Hurom slow juicers do not have the option to press oil from olives or other plants, fruits or vegetables.

I'm running a catering business, can I use a HUROM slow jucier in it?

The design of Hurom slow juicers allows them to run continuously for 30 minutes. After this time, the machine needs to cool down. If your outlet does not need to use the slow jucier for longer than the recommended running time, then you can use it. For larger bars and cafés, we recommend purchasing a Hurom commercial slow jucier, dedicated to HoReCa, which can run continuously for more than 5 hours.

Please remember to properly train those using the slow jucier, as we know from experience that improper use of the machine can lead to damage.

WHAT DOES THE SILICONE SEAL ON THE BOWL'S BASE USE?

The silicone seal is responsible for pushing the flesh outwards. When it is fully inserted into the crevice at the bottom of the bowl it pushes the pulp out through a special opening and prevents the unit from blocking. The seal can be thoroughly cleaned by sliding it out of the opening. Remember to slide the gasket back into the hole before each use. Incorrect installation of the gasket may result in a slow jucier performance and a blocked pulp outlet.

HOW TO STORE HUROM Juice?

Hurom juices are at their most nutritious and valuable immediately after squeezing. In order to keep the juice fresh and tasty for as long as possible, it needs to be stored properly. We recommend storing fruit juices in the fridge for 24 to 48 hours. Vegetable milk stored in the fridge for three days still tastes delicious. If we are not sure if our drink is still fresh, let's use our sense of smell before consuming - if something smells good it means it is definitely good! HOW BEST TO Squeeze THE JUICE OUT OF FIBRE PRODUCTS NP. How do you best extract the juice from fibrous products such as celery or vanilla pods?

To prevent the fibres from wrapping around the roller, all ingredients should be cut into shorter pieces before throwing them into the slow juicer.

Can you make plant milk in the slow jucier? Can plant milk, such as almond milk, be prepared in the milk extractor?

In the Hurom slow jucier, we can prepare vegetable milk from a variety of nuts, but in our opinion, we get the best milk from almonds.

Just 50g of almonds is enough to make a litre of creamy drink. Before pressing, the nuts should be soft. To soften them, soak them in water for 12 - 24 hours. Then rinse them thoroughly under running water. Almonds must not be roasted or boiled. The best results will be obtained from raw nuts. To vary the taste and value of the drink, we can combine different nuts, e.g. Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts or walnuts. We can also add, for example, agave or maple syrup, cocoa beans, dates (without seeds), apple juice, cinnamon.

  • Dates (remove seeds) - dates add sweet flavour but will not dominate. When buying dates, choose firm dates, avoid fruit packed in plastic.
  • Figs - slice and remove petioles
  • Fresh apples - chilled, without seeds
  • Cinnamon - cinnamon bark will work better than ground cinnamon. To bring out the true flavour of cinnamon, soak it in water for 4 hours before pressing. Do not overdo the amount, it is very easy to dominate the milk with this spice.
  • Dried fruit - in fact any dried fruit will be good to add flavour aroma and sweetness to your milk - just cut the ingredients into smaller pieces and experiment! Remember that dried fruit contains a lot of sugar so don't overdo the amount. Less is more!
  • vanilla - don't buy processed spices, always try to find natural vanilla sticks, which can be found in health food shops. Cut the sticks into 1 cm pieces and squeeze them in the same way as nuts/almond. 1 vanilla stick should be enough for 1 litre of milk. For a better result, soak the vanilla a few hours before use. You can also add the same water in which the vanilla was soaked to the milk.
  • Pistachios - they go better than any other type of nut, and are best mixed 50/50 with almonds. Such a mixture will yield a delicious milk with a beautiful pastel green hue. Sweeten with dates or figs to create a drink of the gods!
  • Cocoa beans - cocoa beans are actually the crushed pods of the cocoa tree from which chocolate is made. In this form, cocoa has a high level of antioxidant substances, adding it to the Hurom slow jucier along with milk will produce a delicious and natural plant-based cocoa milk. Cocoa beans taste quite bitter so we will need an additional sweetener - dates or agave syrup will be a good combination. To bring out a deeper flavour soak the cocoa beans for at least 4 hours in water, initially we recommend adding 2-3 teaspoons of beans and then taste and experiment according to your taste.
  • Agave syrup - agave syrup contains a low GI and can be used as an alternative sweetener. It is very sweet and needs to be added in small amounts just to taste.

You can pour the milk through a small strainer, resulting in a creamy addition to, for example, coffee.

How is the best way to prepare the ingredients for juicing in the HUROM slow juicer?

Vegetables and fruit are best cut into smaller pieces so that they easily fly through the batch chamber. Citrus fruits should be peeled. If a blockage occurs, alternately add another type of fruit or vegetable (e.g. more juicy) or use the pusher to unblock the machine.

Before putting leafy vegetables into the Hurom slow jucier, dry them thoroughly after washing, then roll them up and fold them in half.

In order to prevent leaves with a slippery texture from blocking the Hurom jucier, you can alternately add a few pieces of carrot or other fibrous vegetable during the juicing process.

CAN I WASH PARTS FROM THE HUROM slow juicer in the dishwasher?

It is not recommended to wash the appliance components in the dishwasher. It is best to clean them under running water immediately after squeezing, using the brush provided. By cleaning in this way, we do not need to use detergents. In addition, by washing the slow jucier after squeezing, the residue will not have time to dry and can be easily removed - this is the easiest and quickest method. From time to time, we recommend soaking the parts (apart from the main body which houses the motor!) in a mild dishwashing liquid. Such a bath helps to get rid of hard-to-remove residues that may appear with irregular washing.

WHICH APPLES ARE BEST FOR Squeezing Juice?

Apple varieties ideally suited for juicing include among others Ligole, Renata or Granny Smith. You will get the most juice from McIntosh and Cortland. Although they count as soft varieties, you won't have a problem with the puree in the glass. The juice will just be slightly thicker.

THE DEVICE VIBRATES AND SWINGS

A vibrating device means that the motor is working properly. This is perfectly normal. However, if the vibration turns into a strong tremor that causes imbalance, check that the worm shaft is not damaged.

HOW TO USE SIT AND FILTERS?

If you are juicing hard ingredients, for example carrots, apples, beetroot, etc., use a fine strainer or black filter. A coarse strainer or orange filter will work best when juicing soft fruits and vegetables, for example strawberries or kiwi.

HOW TO PREPARE VERY CLARIOUS JUICE?

  1. Make sure the pulp outlet gasket is fitted in the correct way - fully inserted into the opening at the bottom of the bowl (handle moved to the OPEN position). The gasket is responsible for pushing the pulp out properly.
  2. Slow down the pace of putting ingredients into the slow jucier. Putting ingredients into the slow jucier too quickly can block the pulp outlet opening.
  3. Cut the ingredients into smaller pieces, about 3-5 cm - this will make it easier to squeeze the juice and reduce the amount of pulp.
  4. Make sure all ingredients are completely thawed.
  5. Check the silicone brushes for wear.

My HUROM Squeezer Suddenly Stuck

Unusually, sudden stopping of the appliance is caused by incorrect installation of the top. Make sure the bowl is positioned correctly and try turning the appliance on again.

HOW TO UNLOCK A HUROM DEVICE?

Hurom juicers work best when you put ingredients into them at the right - not too fast - pace. Additionally, the squeezing process will be smoother when the products are cut into smaller pieces. To avoid clogging up the machine, it is best to add more products when you hear the characteristic crushing sound. Remember that the Hurom slow jucier takes longer to squeeze juice from harder ingredients such as carrots than apples or oranges.

If pieces do not fly through the batch chamber, use a pusher. If a blockage occurs, press and hold the REV button for 2-3 seconds, then you can return to normal operation.

HOW TO REMOVE STORAGE FROM THE BOWS, SITES AND SCREENS?

Pigmentation is caused by natural pigments found in fruit and vegetables. To reduce these, the appliance should be rinsed and cleaned after each use. We also recommend bathing the elements in vinegar water.

There are cracks and scratches on my snail shaft

Marks and lines on the auger shaft occur during the production process and are completely normal. They do not affect the operation of the machine.

The engine failed to stop

Hurom machines are equipped with special fuses against overheating. Motor stalling can be caused by too many ingredients in the bowl or by running the machine too long. Switch on the reverse gear for 3-5 seconds. Repeat 2-3 times. If the motor does not start, allow the machine to cool down before trying again.

CLEANING FROM EXTRACTION

Squeezing during squeezing is perfectly normal - it is caused by friction between the auger shaft, the bowl and the vegetables/fruit.

DAMAGE OF SIT AND FILTERS

Ice, frozen fruit and vegetables, large hard seeds or seeds, unknown substances or excess fruit and vegetables in the bowl may damage the sieves or filters. Before using the slow jucier, read the instruction manual and the "Important information" tab. Remember not to overload the bowl with vegetables and fruit, and not to overstuff it.

Too much pulp comes out of my slow jucier

Too many ingredients in the bowl can clog the sieve causing too much pulp to come out of the machine. Cut products, especially fibrous ones, into smaller pieces to avoid wrapping fibres around the roller. Insert ingredients slowly so that the jucier can keep up with the pulp discharge.

WHICH PRODUCTS SHOULD NOT Squeeze Juice?

Hurom will extract juice from almost any product except those listed below:

  • Coconut
  • seeds
  • unseasoned/roasted almonds
  • Pulses
  • Sugar cane
  • Frozen produce
  • Fish/Meat
  • Lorice root and other such ingredients
  • Dried spices
  • Fruits with hard seeds that cannot be removed

If you are unsure whether a certain product can be used in a Hurom slow jucier, please contact us at info@hurom.pl and we will respond as soon as possible.

LOCKED COVER

If you cannot open the lid it means there are too many ingredients or an unknown substance in the bowl. Switch on the reverse gear for 3-5 seconds. Repeat this operation 2-3 times. Then tighten the lid while switching on.
